Maybe the protection acted like "protego" around Harry's SOUL and
not his body (postulating that AK attacks the soul), so the curse
goes into Harry's body, but can't get to his protected soul
and "rebounds" out of his body through the scar? Makes as much
sense as any of the other theories and fits in with all the soul
themes.
