I'm a little hazy with the OotP, but at any point does it become clear how James Potter learned the Levicorpus spell when Harry sees him use it in Snape's pensieve memory? It became clear in HBP that Snape invented this spell and I seriously doubt he would have shared such info with his mortal enemy.

No, we never have clear explanation of how James knew it - but in either OotP or HBP, I can't remember ( and don't have my books with me), Lupin tells Harry that (paraphrasing) "Everyone was doing it" or at least that's the essence of the converstaion. My feeling after reading HBP was that Snape probably shared it with some Slytherins and it got around, the way things would in a boarding school...or any school, for that matter. Simple explanation, but I think it makes sense. Katie
