JKR HAS  NOT done what you state..I quote you "in fact JK has neatly

What she has done about race is to nonchalantly include non-white 
characters as a matter of course....they're normal...I actually 
didn't realize Cho Chang was non-white until I saw the movie!

I am not suggesting a soapbox by any means...

JKR should include a lesbian or gay male character as a matter of 
course...as no big deal....anymore than it's a big deal that Lee 
Jordan is black.....
