Can we equate Lily's love protection with Dumbledore's?

Well I don't think it's quite the same thing. DD didn't offer his life
as a way to prevent Harry's death. If we are to believe what happened
on the tower without any of the other theories then no one knew that
Harry was even there because he was frozen underneath the invisibility
cloak.

When Lily died, she was standing with Harry, visibly protecting him
and refusing to let LV have him. LV wasn't present when DD died so who
knows if the same magic occurs when its not as obvious.

But I am not one to shoot down a theory.
