Eddie:
The prophesy image reminds me of the images that hover above the
pensieve.  Possibly the prophesy balls are enclosed pensieves?  This
would explain why the image and voice of the prophet appear... just as
the receiver of the prophesy (in Harry's case, Dumbledore) saw it.
