I don't wish to disappoint you, but I think we are reminded of 
Mariette for the same reason that we are shown Dudley clutching his 
backside. So that we could gloat. 
As for DA it wasn't fractured at all. It had served its purpose in 
the year five as far as Harry was concerned, and that all there was 
to it.
