Even though DD is "dead", he will still be able to talk to him. 
  Remember he was head master and his picture now hangs in the head masters office. Remember in HBP they mention towards the end of the book  that Harry looks at the wall to see a now sleeping DD. Once he wakes up he'll be able to converse and get the rest of the information that is needed for Harry to find the Horcruxes. This is how DD communicated with the other Head Masters when he was worried over Harry.
