Welcome, Zanooda! Voldemort wouldn't  want to share the secret
of how he achieved immortality with his followers, but he wouldn't
want them to know that he's withholding the knowledge either. He
has no doubt promised to reveal it to his faithful ones when he
achieves it. 

So he says things like "one or more of my experiments
had worked" which we now know refer to the horcruxes, but 
make it sound to his followers as though he does not know exactly
how he managed to survive. Also, though his self is bound to earth
and cannot die, his restored body is still subject to destruction by 
old age and disease. The Elixir of Life would protect it.
