This is my point.  Not that it was amazing for Snape to think that 
Harry would go to the MOM, but that it would be easy for Snape to 
not alert the Order and claim he had no idea Harry had gone there, 
or even might go there.

Given that, there was no reason that I can see for Snape to alert 
the Order -- and in particular Dumbledore -- except to thwart the 
plans of Voldemort and to rescue Harry.  Even if he didn't care 
about Harry (I suppose one could argue that), he certainly must 
have intended to thwart Voldemort's plans.
