Why does it have to be a mistake? Why JKR has to think about how 
much time passes  and whether the blood still be fresh? She wrote an 
emotional moment, which IMO was very well done - Harry having a 
reason to touch DD one last time. I thought it was wonderful, I 
think it is all that there is, but that is just me of course.

Well, since Dumbledore was NOT wearing a peaceful expression, I feel 
safe enough to say that there is no meaning behind it. :)
