Magpie:
I think the dramatic need is going to dictate that any Life Debt 
scene we'll see will be right there in front of us with everyone 
knowing what's going on.  So what you're saying is probably 
inevitable--nobody's going to be getting any notes after the fact 
that they're now in or out of a Life Debt.  It's hard for me to 
imagine that if Snape had fainted in the tunnel and been carried to 
the Infirmary and later told that James saved his life he would have 
been any less under a Life Debt to James, but I don't think it will 
ever come down to that in the story, so for all intents and purposes 
you're probably right.
