I dunno, Pippin.  Are you sure that appeasement of an agressor, flush
with dreams of murder and rapine, is comparable to offering a lifeline
to a potential asset who is floundering beyond his depth?

In any case, my question was one of definition, not strategy:

Draco marched into the lion's den and declared war.

He was promptly accommodated.  You might even say he got service with
a smile.

Is "victim" the right word here?
