Acknowledging them would be a good start. I think one
of Snape's greatest grievances comes from the fact
that his point of view was never acknowledged as a
legitimate one. Not by Dumbledore, not by anybody
else. 
BTW, if Lupin in PoA climax was looking for ways to
enrage Snape further, he could not have chosen a
better way than to refer to his "silly schoolboy
grudge" or some such.
