I don't know about Hogwarts, but Durmstrang is a word play for "Sturm 
und Drang" ("Storm and Stress"). "Sturm und Drang" is the name of a 
German literature epoche from the second half of the 18th century 
(named after a drama by the today rather unknown author Friedrich 
Klinger). The most famous works from that epoche are all dramas, and 
they often feature a dark and moody young hero, not unlike Viktor Krum, 
who rebels against an authority figure.
