Geoff:
The pronunciation of Sirius is interesting. As a UK English speaker, I would never rhyme 
Sirius with Serious. The former has a short 'i', the latter a long one. 

Again, with Voldemort's name; I always pronounce the 't'. I think I have heard it 
pronounced in several discussions/interviews I have heard as well as in "the medium that 
dare not speak its name".
