Eddie:
I wonder... before Voldemort killed the Potters, was Snape aware that
Voldemort was willing to kill to achieve his ends?  _WE_ know that
earlier than this Voldemort killed (or ordered killed): his father and
grandparents, Hepzibah Smith, and maybe RAB.  But did the _SNAPE_ know?

Meaning, not only the "necessity of murdering a child", but
"willingness to murder".
