In the Potterverse magical power is inextricably linked to love and 
hate.  Some spells obviously work best (only?) when love is involved 
and some (as Bella says) only have real effect if the level of hate 
attached to their wielding is sufficient.  Morality doesn't have much 
to do with it so we are all wasting our time trying to assess whether 
spells are good or bad or whether people are good or evil.  Its to do 
with the nature of the energy they commit.
