This is an interesting idea, but I think that it is unlikely, because 
Ron has simply stood by Harry's side too many times.  He is a rare and 
loyal friend.  Actually, I suspect that more damage will be done to 
these three by Scabbers/Pettigrew, who knows a great deal about the 
trio.  Think about all the conversations he was privy to over the 
first three books.
