I read this as the Diary soul piece trying to get a [mobile/animate]
body for itself to take over the world in its own right. That is,
Vapormort = old and busted, Diary!Riddle = new hotness. I think this
situation might actually qualify for the evil overlord list under "why
not to clone yourself".
