Morfin was sentenced to 3 years (the first time, for hexing Riddle Sr.
and attacking Ogden), and Marvolo to 6 months (HBP "The house of
Gaunt" ch.). Sturgis Podmore was sentenced to 6 months for his attempt
to enter the DoM (OotP, "Percy and Padfoot" ch.). The life sentences
are  for killers and UC users, I think :-)
