Well, maybe it's not Dark in all those cases? I mean, Crouch Jr. did
use all three unforgivables on spiders and the Imperius on his
students. Granted, he was a villain in disguise, but he did not blow
his cover by doing so. And his father authorised Aurors to use
unforgivables as they saw fit.
