Mandrake Restorative Potion

My granddaughter has stumped me (once again) with a magical question,
hope you folks can help: How does one administer the Mandrake
Restorative Potion to people who are essentially petrified? If the
answer to that one is too easy, then how about dealing with Nearly
Headless Nick for me. Since ghosts, paralyzed or otherwise, are
incapable of eating or drinking, how do we fix up Nick?
