These are children's books and
Adults are seen mostly through the eyes of Harry - still a child

Personally I enjoy seeing some of the characters as one or two dimentional, it means I can 
love/hate them as JKR intended and I don't have to clutter a perfectly good read with 
developing conflicting emotions.  8^)
