When I read the title of this thread I felt sure somebody was trying
to make a comparison between Snape and Boo Radley.

As a very old man Harry Potter wrote in his memoirs:  

His lips parted into a timid smile and our teacher's image blurred
with my sudden tears. "Hey Snape." I said. I can still see it like it
was yesterday, Dumbledore in his pointed hat, Hagrid in his mole skin
coat, and Snape. Snape had given us an education, a potions book, and
our lives.
