Are you absolutely sure that DD would have survived if Snape had tried
to fulfill the UV (because he is a self-preserving Slytherin)? Because
I'm not. DD is weakened after destroying the Ring Horcrux. Having seen
Snape in action in HBP, I definitely think he had a chance against a
weakened Dumbledore. 

And then what? How can Voldemort ever be vanquished if Harry doesn't
know Voldemort split his soul into seven pieces to ensure his immortality?
