Why didn't basilisk kill?/Tom & Harry

I also agree with the statement you made about the character from Harry Potter. You were correct about what you said about Tom. He did use the Basilisk to do his bidding and his dirty work. Also I think Harry was kind of misled by Tom Riddle. He chose to hear the half of his story without even realizing who or what his character was about (he chose his friend too soon). That's what I personally think, Harry was used as a big distraction through the whole story.
