During the time then, yes. However, after Dumbledore learned Sirius
was innocent (thanks to Harry), why not?

Mainly, I'm thinking about OOP. Really, if one day&night was enough to
keep the protection active, why not bring Harry to the 12 Grimauld
Place  much sooner. Did Harry really have to face a Dementor attack first?

(Granted, it was important to the story, sort of, but...)

At least Dumbledore learned his lesson, Harry being removed from
Dursleys early in HBP...
