And _that_ is what's at the core of this issue. From the point of view
of someone living in a society based on rule of law like the US, the
UK, or dozens of other countries in the real world (and apparently
quite _unlike_ the WW), what happened to Sirius is absolutely
atrocious - and no-one's disputing that, no-one's trying to redeem
Crouch, etc. And a lot of people see DD as playing a major role in
this episode. I'm not sure at this point whether that's justified or
not. I think maybe he should have pushed for a trial, if he's supposed
to be an "epitome of goodness" he should fight for due process even
for someone he personally believes is guilty - but the fact remains
that it's a completely alien concept to the wizarding world.
