I truly hope that this is not a good sense of the group view.

Albus Dumbledore was not "arrogant" in his decison making. He made a 
decision to place Harry with the Dursleys because he himself was not 
able to protect a baby/toddler/youth Harry 24 hours a day. Harry was 
in danger from the Death Eaters. Professor Dumbledore had to make the 
decision to use magick that Tom Riddle (generally known as Lord 
Voldemort) was not familiar within order to keep Harry safe. 

He succeeded. He kept Harry safe.

Professor Dumbledore did make many mistakes -- as any human 
individual did. But he was not arrogant.
