Actually, in HBP when Harry goes back to Gryffindor Tower after 
Dumbledore's death, there is some interesting phrasing that JK uses...
Harry had left his invisibility cloak on the top of the astronomy 
tower, but he didn't need it because he did not meet another "SOUL" 
until he reached the fat lady...
