I won't deny the root-cellar bit :-), however, it's hard to see how 
Harry could have been concerned about his modesty unless things were 
being exposed that weren't normally. Exchanging shirts and jackets 
doesn't seem to do it.

Dunno if JKR had this in mind, but it certainly passed through my
