:- Yes, British people do know what effing stands for and use it
almost as frequently as North American people use the 'F' counter part. As my hubby is British I hear this alot.
I think we need to remember that these books have evolved over the
years and they are no longer classifed as 100% childrens books any
more. The last book in the series is dealing with young adults in
their 17th year of life and I would ask any of you to tell me how many
17 year olds do you know who don't use that word.
JKR has always endeavored to be as accurate as possible in depicting
her characters in each stage of their growing up, and I think she has
done so again this time, brilliantly.
