I think the one who finishes off LV doesn't need NEWTs to enter the
Aurors and I believe that neither does one who helps finishing him
off by destroying a horcrux. Hermione already has mastered NEWT
standard in fifth grade will have gotten a leg up by somebody or just
done the tests or so.
Did JKR say something about it? I haven't read the transcripts of
interviews etc. so far.
