It bothered me all along, but especially in book 7. I could understand 
that Harry isn't an academic type of person, and he has more 
"interesting" things to do while at school, like Quidditch. But in book 
7, all those camping trips, the absolute boredom and loneliness of the 
thing, and he never, ever thinks to pick up one of the books that 
Hermione has brought along.

Not my kind of hero, I'm afraid. :-)
