While doing the interview circuit promoting the OOTP movie (but before the book came out), Dan told a story of JKR seeing Equus; afterwards she came backstage and said something like, "That's settled.  You're going to be naked all through the last book."

So, I laughed out loud when the bogus Harrys changed clothes, when Harry stripped down to his underwear to go after the sword, and when he woke up naked.
