Potions, strictly speaking, are not spells. While they are brewed 
magically, obviously, they are not really spells of their own accord.

As for leaving on bewitched objects, the spells that bewitched those 
objects was cast long ago. There is no actual spell being performed at 
that moment. 

I think the idea was that any casting of a spell would have alerted 
the DE's as to what was happening. Katie
