Anyway --

JKR has said that wizards can't use electronic stuff at Hogwarts 
because all the magic and enchantments interfere with the signals and 
electrical impulses.  Since it's not something they ever learned to 
rely on, and probably isn't very reliable anyway, depending on the 
level of magic being used and enchantments at home.

I figured Ron's radio was of the magical sort, since he needed a 
password to listen to the show.
