I like McGonagall as well. She reminds me of teachers I've had IRL.
I think Dumbledore doesn't confide in her because he knows she will
find flaws in his plans. She was skeptical of his plan to leave
Harry with the Dursleys and her instincts were right on IMO. Her
argument with Umbridge regarding Harry's future was one of the
highlights of the Order of the Phoenix.
