Well, the idea that the green potion, alone or its combination with the 
lake water applied externally, is enough to slowly change a person into 
an Inferius would certsainly give an interesting new meaning to Snape's 
expression of revulsion just before he killed Dumbledore.

I tend to think not, though, because of Snape's seemingly great anguish 
over the killing. This theory would make it more of a rescue.
