I would disagree. The message was left for Voldemort to read and to learn who had taken
the real Horcrux.
Therefore, although the writer might, by then, be dead, he wanted Voldemort to know
what had happened and who had managed to trick him. If R.A.B. repesented the initials of
three people, this would leave a wide-open field for speculation on Voldemort's part.
Also, the writer uses the first person "I" pronoun through the note. I am inclined to join the
majority view and put my money on Regulus Black.
