Someone of my ilk, being part of the "Snape is Dumbledore's man through
and through just as Harry is," group showed me a wonderful passage from
OOtP that gives what she calls indisputable proof of Snape's
intentions.

On page 531 of the US version Snape says, "The Dark lord, for instance,
ALMOST always knows when someone is lying to him. Only those skilled
at Occlumency are able to shut down those feelings and memories that
contradict the lie, and so utter falsehoods in his presence without
detection."

Unless I'm mistaken, Snape would be the one and only person flying
under the radar and getting away with this kind of activity. The
almost, while subtle, seems to be a raving admission of his actions,
given that this doesn't seem like the kind of setting for him to be
lying.
