Raechel responds:

While I agree that Dumbledore is, in fact, DEAD, I don't think that
necessarily means he is gone.  It interests me greatly the way his
portrait in the headmistresses office is described at the end of HBP.
 As we know the portraits are all aware of what is going on in the
present as demonstrated by Phineas Nigellus and the portraits who
assist DD in OoP.  IMO, I believe that DD will still be around to help
Harry and explain what happened to his shriveled and burnt hand by
means of his portrait.  Consequently, just because JKR has resolutely
declared that DD is dead does not mean he won't be around.
