I was thinking something very similar this morning. Why couldn't
Harry use the pensieve? It's clear that he has the memory in his
brain. Someone (Snape, maybe) could be able to help him remove that
memory from his mind and place it in the pensieve. Then, he would be
free to observe it as a 16 year old and gleen whatever information he
can from it.
