Lupin's loyalties

 Of all the characters in hp Lupin is by far my favorite. I can see
how he would feel left out of his friend's fun at times, and that he
feels a great deal of regret for the things in his past.  My question
is do you think that Lupin will prove to be a friend or an enemy in
the end? He wouldn't be my first choice, what would casuse him to
betray a lifelong friendship? I guess what I am wondering is do you
think Lupin will stand with Harry in the end? Does he have some other
agenda?
