snape - animagus or?

I am sorry if this had been already covered. I admit I do not follow
this list as closely as I should -guilty smile-

Anyhow... although I am unsure anyone can say for sure definitely... 
do
you think Snape actually TRANSFORMS into a large bat? (Animagus) or
that he just has the ability to fly? (Like Voldemort does) and he 
looks
like a "large bat" (He has been described as looking this way before,
with his demeanor and large swirling black robes)

I thought the way the book described the even was too vague ... 
Anyone
have a compelling argument for one or the other?
