He could have given Tom Riddle's soul some idea of what it was like to be touched, even 
for a moment, by comforting, caring hands. Who knows the difference that could have 
made in the ultimate outcome of Voldemort's life? Probably none at that point, which is 
why I said it says more about Harry that he doesn't make the effort. Of course, if Tom 
Riddle had been touched by comforting, caring hands at any point in his life when he 
needed it, maybe more things would have turned out differently.
