Couldn't he have just wanted the comfort of her memory in his last
moments?  I repeat: if Lily is still the be all and end all *WHY* is
sorrowing lover telling her son to get himself killed???

The only reason I can think of is because, like DD and Harry himself, defeating Voldemort has become Snape's prime objective.

BTW: Isn't Harry strongly motivated by the fact Voldy killed his parents, and was indirectly responsible for the death and suffering of assorted friends?
