I took this only as an indication of Voldemort desiring the satisfaction 
of finishing off Harry himself, not that it necessarily HAD to be. 
Perhaps there's more to it and I just missed the reference.

In any case, it always has to come down to the Hero and the Bad Guy 
mano-a-mano at the end, doesn't it?
