 Its true, the system can never be perfect, but don't we still try 
to improve it? 
 I guess I'm curious as to whether this is a bit of JKR speaking 
through DD (her views of education do seep out of the work in how 
classrooms are set up, what the ideals are etc.) or is it just a 
device to show DD compliment Snape. I guess, ultimately, the 
question is, is there a a problem with the system (in that people 
end up in the wrong houses) or is this just a minor glitch and 
there's really nothing wrong on the whole. (But then that's the sort 
of discussion that leads you to ask about educational philosophy in 
general).
