Because at some point, Snape would tell Harry, and Harry needed to
believe that he was sacrificing himself, or the whole plan would not
have worked.

Unlike Snape, Dumbledore *did* hear the whole prophecy and had good
reason to believe that one of Harry and Voldemort would live.
